BRIAN
WERNER |
Brian Werner is a strategic
associate of R&R, responsible for companywide resort operations
and marketing.
Upon graduating San Diego State University
with a degree in Sports Facilities Management, Mr. Werner
was hired in 1981 by the City of San Diego, Parks and Recreation
Department to work in the Balboa Park Management Center where
in addition to overseeing the recreational facilities and sports
programs, he also acted as the City Liaison for major Special Events,
Concerts, and Festivals.
In 1985, Werner was given the opportunity to work at the famed Kona
Kai Club and Resort in San Diego, where he introduced numerous
innovative programs that helped reposition the resort and club.
Werner's initiatives increased monthly membership sales from $9,000.00
per month to over $150,000.00 per month over a three year period.
During his tenure, he also oversaw the renovation of the club, restaurant,
and marina facilities and was responsible for the construction of
the spa and fitness center and the formation of the Kona Kai Yacht
Club.
After leaving the Kona Kai Club, Werner worked for several well
known West Coast based hospitality management companies from 1989
to 1994 where he held senior level positions in Resort and Sports
Marketing, Country Club Management, and Resort and Hotel Development.
It was during this period he began a long term relationship with
R&R Hotel Group which he still enjoys today.
In 1994, a group of prominent Mexican business leaders recruited
Werner to be General Manager of the El Cid Golf & Country Club
in Mazatlan, Mexico. During his tenure, Werner steered the club
back to profitability and oversaw the day-to-day operations of the
18 hole golf course and country club amenities, membership sales
and activities, food and beverage operations, and golf and tennis
tournaments and operations. Werner was also responsible for bringing
the John Jacob’s Golf Schools to Mexico, the formation of
the resort tennis academy, the construction and operation of the
resort’s spa & fitness center, and the construction of
an additional nine hole golf course designed by Lee Trevino. During
this same time, Werner also served as the Director of Development
& Special Projects for El Cid Resorts and assisted with their
expansion into Cancun and Cozumel.
In 2002 Werner formed his own golf
course and country club management company targeting North and Latin
America golf course and resort developers. His company also represents
the InVicta Club, Book4Golf, and Natural Golf Schools in Mexico
on an exclusive basis.
Werner is a member of the National Golf Foundation, Rotary International,
Kappa Sigma Fraternity Alumni, and Eagle Scout Alumni Associations.
An outdoor buff at heart, Werner still enjoys competitive swimming,
hiking, sport fishing, surfing, and golf when he has the chance.
Brian is also bilingual and speaks English and Spanish.
